Frequently Asked Questions
Why are you charging for post season boards?
In order to bring the best experience, we will be charging a per board fee for post season boards. We believe our pricing is fair and reasonable. Printing boards will always be free throughout the regular and post season. Being a participant on a board is always free. This will eliminate the need to show advertisements with our application, which other sites do. You will never be annoyed by ads popping up and distracting from your management tasks. In addition, our focus is on football squares only and no other game types. We invest in our application development in order to bring the best in class features to your boards.
There are other sites that offer the same service. Why should I choose Gridiron Squares?
At Gridiron Squares, our focus is on security, privacy, and functionality. We strive to provide easy to use features and management tools across all platforms. Our application is constantly evaluated and updated so that your experience is positive. We do not discourage from use of other sites, but we do encourage you to try Gridiron Squares and see the difference.
What is Real Time Updating?
As a game starts and progresses toward a finish, our technology will constantly update your boards with real time scoring. You can log into Gridiron Squares on game day and watch your board update. Winners and payouts will be tracked and updated in real time as well. No more waiting for an owner to tell you the winners. Players can follow board updates and eliminate the confusion of evaluating squares.
Why can't I change the board away/home team scores?
Scores are locked to keep gameplay fair for everyone. Away/home values are assigned using the same randomized process for all participants, and allowing edits afterward could create an unfair advantage. Locking scores protects board integrity, prevents disputes, and ensures results are transparent and consistent for all players.
What is board locking and how does it work?
Board locking happens when an owner enters assignment mode to place squares for a participant. While the board is locked, other users cannot change assignments, which prevents overlap and keeps selections consistent. The owner can unlock the board manually, and leaving assignment mode or navigating away also releases the lock. If a temporary lock expiration time is shown, other users can assign squares again once that time passes.
What types of boards and scoring does this application support?
Gridiron Squares supports both 10x10 and 5x5 football squares boards. For scoring, the application supports Normal scoring, Halftime scoring, and Quarter scoring so owners can choose the format that fits their game-day setup.
I am worried about privacy. What controls does Gridiron Squares offer?
Gridiron Squares places a priority on security and privacy. Users log in with Passkey with an option for email codes on unsupported browsers. We do not store any personal information other than name and email upon registration. Users may add additional profile data at their discretion. Users may use an alias or nickname only. In addition, board owners may configure any board to delete from our system after a specific time period. The default time period for board deletion is 7 days.
Is this a gambling site?
Gridiron Squares, it's parent company and any affiliates do not promote or encourage gambling. Gridiron Squares is for entertainment purposes only. There are no functions to facilitate monetary exchanges other than purchasing a board.
Is this legit or are you just selling our information to advertisers?
Gridiron Squares does not sell your information to advertisers. We are well aware that any user can create a dummy email with a fake name and use our application which is useless to advertisers. Our focus is on providing a clean, ad-free experience for our users.
What happens if I buy a board and want to change the game?
You can delete the board and create a new one. If you delete while the game is still scheduled, you receive 1 matching board credit (Playoff or Championship) that can be reused later. If the game is in progress or completed, no credit is issued. Credits carry over indefinitely and can also be gifted to users in your saved participant list.
